Title
Federal Structure Implementation (2017)
Description

In 2017, Nepal held the first elections under its new federal constitution, electing provincial assemblies and a new Parliament in three phases. This marked the full implementation of Nepal's federal structure with seven provinces, each with its own government and assembly. Local government elections were also held for 753 local units. The transition to federalism was a major political transformation aimed at devolving power to regional and local governments.
