Japanese animator and Studio Ghibli co-founder Hayao Miyazaki received the 2024 Ramon Magsaysay Award (often called Asia's Nobel Prize) at the 66th ceremony held in Manila on 16 November 2024. Recognised for his contributions to environmental awareness and peace promotion through animation films such as My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke, and Spirited Away.
